Optimized Logistics

Mr. Blanchard will be presenting the complexities of optimizing logistics processes at RMS:  This discussion will characterize RMS’ Logistics functions, to include structure and performance metrics.  The path to optimization will then be explored via an in-depth discussion on optimization benefits and roadblocks, comprising of concepts such as cost savings opportunities, impact to schedule, organizational culture, and the need for robust directive documents.

The role of continuous improvement methodology will then be discussed. Finally, the session will conclude with a brief depiction of optimization projects that have been completed, to include a cursory view of the financial impact and process enhancements.

Due to “ITAR” requirements everyone desiring to attend this site tour
must register with Name, Company and “All” countries of citizenship.

Thomas Blanchard D.B.A. (ABD)

Thomas Blanchard D.B.A.About the Speaker:

Thomas Blanchard is the Logistics Transformation Manager for Raytheon Missile Systems’ Supply Chain Management organization. Thomas works primarily on strategic initiatives, driving process changes and cost savings through optimization of supply chain logistics functions. Thomas has 26 years of experience across supply chain and logistics functions.

Thomas is a retired US Army Master Sergeant. At the pinnacle of his career, Thomas served as an ordnance program manager for the US Army’s premiere counter-terrorist special operations unit. He routinely deployed internationally on training missions and to combat zones such as Afghanistan and Bosnia-Herzegovina in order to set up tactical supply chains operations.

Thomas’ formal education includes a B.S. from Regents College, an M.A. in management from American Military University, and a D.B.A. (ABD) in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University. In 2009, Thomas was inducted into the International Honors Society in Business, Delta Mu Delta, having earned a 4.0 grade point average throughout his doctoral coursework.

Thomas also holds both Raytheon and JACMET Project Management certifications and Logistician Certification with the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Thomas was born in Mountain View, CA. He now resides in Tucson, AZ with his wife and two sons.
